I have been a full time NHS Consultant in Emergency Medicine at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast since 2013. During that time, I have held the position of both Clinical Director and the Governance Lead.
I have interests in patient safety and human factors, and was selected to undertake the Scottish Patient Safety Fellowship. This involved spending time at the Institute for Health Improvement in Harvard. I recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Factors in Patient Safety via RCSI. I have been responsible for answering complaints and litigation involving the Emergency Department, and have appeared on behalf of the Belfast Trust in the Coroner’s Court, and in front of the Human Rights Commission.
